“In the year 2016, a new revolution was launched, but this time it was an emotional intelligence revolution. A simple, non-violent revolution to ensure we are intelligent with our emotions. I have represented Ghana in Nigeria, Dubai, United Kingdom and Zambia, to mention but a few. Now calls begin to come for a book to be written that my people can relate to. Regarding all other areas of emotional intelligence, I decided to look at children first,” he said.

“My target audience are Parents, Educators and General caregivers. It is easier to build stronger children than repair broken adults; therefore, it is essential to offer children a good start for a responsible tomorrow.” James Kwesi Addison added.

Book

The Book, “My child my future” takes you on a journey of self-discovery in understanding the emotional dynamics of children. It helps parents, caregivers build a positive relationship with their children and help them equally build self-confidence and self-esteem that will make them resilient.

“Parents, educators, and caregivers need to be emotionally intelligent so they can bring up children to understand and manage their emotions and those of others around them. Emotional intelligence helps us to understand and manage our own emotions in order to self-motivate and create positive interactions with our children,” the book teaches.

It also noted that children’s upbringing and development is one of the daunting but joyous tasks if the enabling environment is created. “One of the constituents of such an enabling environment is getting it right with children’s emotions,” the book discourses.

Consequently, the book is fashioned to ensure that even without a formal curriculum and education to draw on; caregivers will be able to play their role to nurture children’s emotional intelligence competencies.

The Paramount Chief of Breman Essiam Traditional Area, Odeefuo Afankwa III who is also a Member of he Council of State commended the author for the initiative.

“It is my hope that parents, educators, all categories and the manner of caregivers will make this book one of their useful books. I am very much convinced that this book will serve as a good reference material for Ghana’s Education Service as we develop a new pathway in education aimed at educating the head, the heart and the hand,” he said.

Odeefuo Afankwa III recommend the book for general readership, especially to teachers, parents, and general caregivers.

  1. This is the knowledge we need for our generation.

The world is growing into a terrain of salvages, at a terrific rate, where man no longer considers the needs and cares of his neighbour.

We therefore need knowledge of such nature to nurture the youth of today and that of tomorrow.

Mr. Addison, kudos and more grease to your elbow (your pen). May its ink never get finished.
